Jabulani 'HHP'(Hip Hop Pantsula) Tsambo dies aged 38
Hip hop sensation Jabulani Tsambo also known in the music circles as HHP died Wednesday. Born born 14 September 1980, he was initially part of a group called Verbal Assassins. In 1997, together with school friends met with producer Chicco Twala who produced their debut album, Party they later split and this was the time he met singer/producer Isaac Mthethwa.The two worked on his debut solo album. The result was an album titled 'Introduction' in 2000.This was an album that introduced a new, vibrant genre that came to be known at Motswako.He was known for his many hits including Bosso ke mang, Jabba, Harambe and more. The news about his death was confirmed by his wife Lerato Sengadi Wednesday afternoon. HHP struggled with depression for a number of years ,a topic he had spoken out about a number of times. The circumstances of his death have not been confirmed but HHP had openly struggled with depression in recent years.
South Africa's ruling party, the African National Congress, has also expressed its condolences.
"The ANC joins millions of South Africans in paying tribute to this music icon who became a beacon of hope and inspired many artists, and individuals in our country," it said in a statement.
"He left an indelible mark in the country and his inspirational music will continue [to] reverberate [in] our ears for many years to come."
